8" x 5" Gothic Cast Iron Door Rim Lock, Key & Keep - hand written

A very large antique cast iron rim lock with brass detailing and locking mechanism. 

A very unique feature is the writing to the front in the form of raised dots. I'm unable to decipher what it reads though.....can you?

It comes complete with working key (works from both sides) and hand crafted replacement keep. There is a working night thumb latch to the bottom crafted from solid brass.

The lock has been professionally restored to a very high standard and is in full working order. It's has been given a satin lacquered finish. Will fit a left hung door.

Measurements:

• Lock: 20cm (8") wide, 12.5m (5") high and 3cm (1 1/4") thick.
• Keep: 2.5cm (1") wide, 12.5cm (5") high and 2.5cm (1") thick.
• Key: 11cm (4 1/4") long.
• The center of the key hole is 8cm (3 1/4") from the edge of the deadlock side.

An impressive piece weighing just over 1.5kg.

In excellent condition, full working order.
