Darrah's Patent - "The Puritas Washdown Closet" - Floral Victorian High Level Throne Toilet 1891

£2,560.00

An extremely rare opportunity to acquire a high quality floral pattern transfer printed high level toilet. Stamped 'The Puritas Washdown Closet, Rd No. 167021' dating it to 1891.

The "Darrah's Patent" refers to the seat fixing holes where a wooden seat would have been permanently situated. This isn't very practical, or hygienic and it would be better suited to a throne type seat with either floor, or wall brackets and rubber bungs placed into the pan holes.

Measures

  • 40cm high
  • 41cm deep (to start of water inlet pipe)
  • 57cm deep (to back of soil pipe)
  • 38cm wide (incl lugs)
  • 35.5cm wide (not incl lugs)
  • soil pipe diameter 10cm
  • floor to center soil pipe 19cm

The toilet is in extremely good condition for its age. There are a few very light scratches to the inner bowl and some slight scuffs to the front rim and a minor misglaze to the rim.

A fantastic museum quality item that will add a touch of class to your smallest room in an instant.
